Healthy Family Activities : Hiking

All health experts agree that the reason for obesity and health problems related to it is a sedentary lifestyle. Hiking is a great way to get off the couch and help the entire family to build habits that will keep healthy not only the kids, but also their parents.

Couple of years ago we discovered a wonderful Provincial Park close to where we live and hiking there quickly became one of our most favourite family activities. Not only do we get a great exercise, but it also reconnects us all with nature. Children are excited to discover different species of plant and animal life living there and learn to appreciate the natural world.

As professing Christians we believe that God made this world for our blessing, and that we should not abuse it. And as we walk and admire the beauty of His handiwork, we praise Him for it in our hearts. So, it also becomes a
spiritual experience for us as well.

Being out with nature has many benefits, I would encourage you to try it with your own family as well. Happy hiking!
