And I mean not in the top 4% of the richest, but the top 4% of the healthiest people in the world. According to the latest statistics released by World Health Organization 96% of the world's population suffers from at least one chronic illness, condition, or disease.
If you do not have any, then it makes you one of the healthiest people in the world. I feel very blessed to be in this category and I will do everything I can to stay in this group for a very long time, perhaps until the end of my life by God's grace.
I believe that being stay-at-home Mom has a lot to do with my enviable status. Too many people who work outside the home get so busy that they simply give up on being healthy believing that they do not have time to prepare their own healthy meals and to exercise.
Being at home does not mean that we are any less busy, but it does give us the freedom to set our own schedules and a unique opportunity not only to develop healthy living habits for ourselves, but also for our children.
I have heard over the years from many mothers that it is normal for kids to be getting sick every year and take antibiotics, as well as for them to suffer from many "common" childhood aliments, but my kids were and still are by large free from nearly all of them.
My older daughter (currently 14) had to take antibiotic treatment only once in her life and her one year younger sister never had to take them at all. They never had ear infections, parasites, or any infectious disease except for occasional cold or a flu every few years or so from which they recover quickly and naturally and I don't think that it is only because they are homeschooled as they have regular contact with other children and often large groups of them yet they rarely get sick.
But it has a lot to do with the fact that they have been eating healthy whole foods from the time their were babies with very little occasional "junk foods", many of which we are making a healthy versions of at home.
When they were young , I was often criticised by other parents for not allowing my children to drink chocolate milk by the gallons, eat sugary cereals or to have other sugary/processed treats everyday, but today my children are still healthy while some of theirs struggle with diabetes and/or obesity.
It was totally worth it to do what was right. I encourage you to use this opportunity to develop healthy habits for your family as well. They will thank you for it for many years to come. Feel free to check out some of my healthy food recipes and health tips to help you along the way.
